Last weekend was our last as a family of three! We told
Graham that we were going to do something fun on Friday – whatever he wanted to
do. He first said he wanted to golf – perfect, we planned to take him
mini-golfing. Unfortunately, we were under an extreme heat advisory over the weekend.
With a heat index of 110 degrees on Friday, we didn’t think that playing golf
outside was the smartest decision for our toddler, or my very pregnant self.
Plan B – we asked Graham what else he wanted to do…his first response was, “go
to the beach.” As much as I wished we could, that wasn’t going to happen. His
second response – “go to school.” Seriously?! After that, Nate and I had to
take matters into our own hands.
I got home from work on Friday and the painters had been at
the house staining our basement cabinets. While precautions were taken to keep
the fumes as minimal as possible, they still spread throughout the house. We
decided to go to dinner and start the fun to see if the smell was any better
when we returned. We headed to Chuck E. Cheese – eek, but Graham LOVED IT – and
played all kinds of games. Before heading home, we went for ice cream. When we
got back to the house – the fumes were just as strong as when we left. Thankfully,
our AMAZING friend, Jeff, was able to get us a hotel room at 10pm…for free! All
the hotels in Liberty/KC were booked – so weird – so at 10:30pm, we loaded up
the car and headed for Leavenworth, KS. Graham, of course, was wide awake – we told
him we were going on an adventure and he was all for it! While staying any place
other than my own bed sounded miserable, it actually ended up working out great
– I had the BEST night of sleep that I’ve had in weeks. And, Graham got his own
pull-out bed (and TV…that he didn’t watch) – so he was one happy camper! In the
end, nothing about Friday went as planned but we all had fun, were together and
happy! Win!
Saturday, Nate took Graham to Gallatin to stay so we could
have a date night before baby. While the boys were gone, I aired out the house
and got a mani/pedi (yay)! When Nate returned, we headed down to the Plaza,
shopped around a little and then went to dinner at Houston’s which I’ve been
wanting to try forever. After, we just decided to go home and hang out on the
deck…simple and relaxing, and surprisingly not too hot. It’s rare that we have
so much time, just the two of us, to just talk and hang out. I know that time is
about to become more scarce – I’m so thankful that we had one night where we didn’t
have to worry about anything. A big thanks to Nate's parents for keeping our babe for us!
Sunday we were in full pre-baby prep mode – running errands
for the basement, doing laundry, grocery shopping, completing insurance paperwork
and the list goes on. Overall a great last weekend as a family of 3!
Lastly, I’m 39 weeks today – here is my final bump picture!
We check in at the hospital tomorrow at 5:30am. It’s so hard to believe that we’ll
be holding our baby in a few short hours. My nerves haven’t eased but my
excitement is growing. I’m ready to get the “hard stuff” out of the way so we
can go home and be with both of our little loves!
