Last Thursday Nate and I took Graham to his second physical therapy clinic appointment - downtown with the head doctor of the pediatric physical therapy department. Thankfully Graham was awake for the whole appointment and was able to show what he could do to the doctor and the PT that we meet with weekly. In the past week Graham has made some good strides - he is lifting his arm off the floor but he's still struggling with getting it up to to his head and bending his arm at the elbow. These are our two main goals for the next six weeks. In six weeks we will be at the three month mark which is when Graham's progress will be evaluated and we may need to discuss if surgery to repair the nerves would benefit him. I pray every day that he continues to make progress (and ultimately heals completely) and that we won't even need to consider surgery...I really don't want to put my baby through that if at all possible!
While Thursday was a good day, there are still some where I really struggle with Graham's injury. I know that the situation could be SO much worse but I wish that he wouldn't have gotten hurt...I wish that he wasn't having to go through physical therapy...I wish that we weren't constantly worried about his recovery. I have no doubt that Graham will be able to do anything he wants in life but as a mom, I don't want anything to be more difficult for him than it has to be. So, for now we will just continue to pray for God to heal our happy little peanut!
