17 Weeks

Today I'm 17 weeks...and growing! I had my 16 week appointment last week and all looked good, with the exception of slightly elevated blood pressure. The doctor told me to monitor at home and bring my readings to my next appointment, but I didn't have protein in my urine and I haven't had headaches/other signs of high blood pressure so he wasn't too concerned. I'm always nervous when I go to the doctor so I'm not surprised that my blood pressure was a little high (it typically is at doctors' offices). Thankfully, at home I've been well below normal...and hopefully it stays that way. Another/better update from my appointment - Baby H's heart rate was 150, which is great. The doctor asked if I have felt any movement yet - so far I haven't (bummer). As he was taking the baby's heart rate he asked, "Do you feel that? He or she is moving right now." Sadly, I couldn't feel a thing but I should feel those "butterflies" any day now! CANNOT WAIT!

Symptoms: I'm still having the same symptoms - lower back/abdomen aches and heartburn - only they have gotten a little more intense and a lot more frequent. On a positive note - I haven't had to get up to use the bathroom in the middle of the night for a week! Yay!

Cravings: The heartburn has made enjoying food more difficult so I guess it's good that I haven't had major cravings. An oh so cool and delicious treat I discovered this week that does not caused me heartburn - jello, mmmmm!

On a final note - our next appointment is November 15th! I'm so pumped because 1) it's our 20 week sonogram so we get to see our baby again and 2) we'll finally know if we're having a baby boy or girl!
