A Henderson Update

I’m a little behind on my blog posts, so a few updates.
First of all, we have a roommate. Nate’s college roommate, Nick, accepted a job in Des Moines and while he is finding an apartment, he’s staying with us. He hasn’t been around too much since he’s been traveling for work but we’re really excited to have a close friend up here to hang out with.
The past couple weekends I’ve been in Kansas City. Nate and I both went down two weekends ago to visit the new babies that have been born in the past few months. Nate saw five babies and I saw four – Kambree, Molly Kate Akins, Will Burns, Paisley Termini and Andrew Grither. It is crazy that so many of our friends have babies now…gosh, we’re growing up. Somehow, I neglected to take pics of all the kiddos...I did get a couple cute ones of Kam and Brady though.

Last weekend, I went to Kansas City to celebrate March Madness – the birthday tradition for Renae (3/29 birthday), Dana (3/30 birthday) and myself (3/31 birthday) for the past seven years. Our friend Ashley was a gracious host and invited us all into her home to stay. We all met for lunch on Saturday, got manicures and pedicures and hung out that afternoon – it was great catching up with the girls. Saturday night we went to dinner and then out on town. It was another great March Madness – I’m glad the tradition lives on.

While I was in KC with the girls, Nate spent his Saturday at Gma and Gpa Cooper’s farm shed hunting – something I’m sure he had more fun doing then spending the day with a bunch of girls. :)
This week and weekend have been pretty calm as we prepare for our vacation - our house and garage are clean (there's nothing worse than coming home from vaca to a dirty house) and the packing is underway. We leave for KC on Tuesday after work and then fly out early Wednesday morning for Jamaica! We are SO excited – I’ve had a countdown for over a month now and can’t believe we are down to the last few days! I made Nate watch Cocktail with me the other night (half of the movie was shot in Jamaica) and I plan to finalize my “island” playlist this weekend – so far it’s filled with the best of Bob Marley and Kokomo!
Six days of sun, sand, my hubs, our friends from VA Beach, no phone/internet or work – how could we not be excited?! Stay tuned for pictures!!
